Productivity is the art of getting stuff done as effectively and efficiently as possible. Being productive opens so many doors besides increased status and success. This blog post is about those reasons.

#1: More free time.

For me, productivity and the effectiveness and efficiency that comes with it isn´t to be able to fit more work into your day. It shouldn’t be your goal either. Instead, it is about working in a way that gets all the important tasks in your business done, so you can spend more time on other things you love. Spending your free time doing self-care, being present with your family and friends, and doing fun stuff. I LOVE my work, writing and teaching is almost as important as food for me. But what is life without connection to oneself, to loved ones, and having fun?

When we become focused and productive, it allows us to work a lot less, which gives space to other important aspects of living a fulfilled life. That is one of the main reasons I am so passionate about productivity.

#2: More time for learning & growth.

Learning is fundamental for our growth as humans, if we aren’t learning and growing, we are slowly dying. Learning benefits our businesses and our souls. I am talking about all kinds of learning. A new skill you can use in your business, a new hobby, personal development — everything is learning. It keeps our minds sharp. Continuous learning increases innovative thinking and creativity which benefits us in business and in life. It improves mental health and general well-being. Humans are supposed to learn until we die, why else do we have an oversized brain? According to this study, lifelong learning helps us cope with a fast-changing world, it increases your professional success and leads to a fulfilling and enriching life.

#3: Increases creativity.

Working less equals more breaks from work. This gives our subconscious minds peace to work on problems and challenges and solve them without us trying too hard. It is the reason good ideas pop up when we are in the shower, going for a walk, or doing chores. Our subconscious mind starts working and works incredibly effectively when we give it space to do so. When digging into some of the most prolific writers, painters, philosophers, and scientists in history almost all of them spend a significant portion of their time simply walking. When we aren’t focused on anything in particular, the eureka moments happen. Being more productive lets us spend less time on focused work and more time in an unfocused state, which increases creativity and problem-solving.

#4: Increases well-being:

It feels great to accomplish the tasks you set up to accomplish on any given day. That alone leads to well-being. It feels great to spend more time on self-care, family, friends, and fun. Learning and growing feel great too. All the reasons above are how increased productivity leads to well-being. You increase your confidence and self-worth too.

There is plenty of benefits to becoming more productive and really no reason why you shouldn’t– unless it is to squeeze in more time for unimportant work that stresses you out.
